Intravenous Therapies
What Are Intravenous Vitamins and Minerals?
IV Micronutrient Therapy is a combination of high dose vitamin C, a mixture of B vitamins, magnesium, and calcium given directly into a patient's vein. Doses are typically much higher than the Recommended Daily Allowance values set by the US Food and Drug Administration. Recent evidence has demonstrated that these higher doses are beneficial for a variety of conditions. Because of the limitations of the gastrointestinal system to absorb high doses of vitamins, it is necessary to give them intravenously to achieve therapeutic ranges.
What Conditions Benefit from Intravenous Vitamins and Minerals?
There are many medical conditions that benefit from intravenous vitamins and minerals. Chronic illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, fibromyalgia, asthma, migraine headaches, allergies, autoimmune disease, infectious diseases such as Lyme disease or hepatitis, and gastrointestinal illnesses such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease/ulcerative colitis) all deplete us of precious intracellular nutrients. Acute illnesses such as viral, bacterial, and yeast infections also cause our bodies to use up nutrients quicker. These nutrients are essential for our body's complex chemical reactions to work efficiently. When our cells are deprived of what they need to work with, they begin to shut down and can die. Some people feel that monthly maintenance treatments improve their general sense of well-being and vitality.
Are Intravenous Vitamins and Minerals Safe?
Physicians have safely been giving intravenous vitamins and mineral therapies for decades. All the components of the treatment are natural to the body and generally pose no health risks. A full medical evaluation is performed before therapy is started to ensure safety.
How Long Does Treatment Last?
Depending on the condition being treated, most people need between eight to 10 therapies. Many patients benefit from continued maintenance therapies after the acute phase of their illness has been successfully treated. Treatments are usually once or twice a week initially then are spaced out as symptoms get better.
